Alumni Corner/What about Luther?

Luther College alumnus, Nicholas “Nick” Aron Huber, age 28, of Alta, passed away Saturday morning, July 19, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. Huber, who was in the advanced stage of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease), died from injuries he sustained in a July 4 motor vehicle accident and complications from ALS.

Nick graduated from Luther in 2000, played baseball as a freshman for the Norse, and was a talented and well known sports announcer for KWLC radio.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Schaller Memorial Chapel on the Buena Vista University campus with Rev. Mark Youngquist officiating. Nicklas Jensen Funeral Home of Alta was in charge of arrangements.

Upward Bound is back "up and running" at Luther College after a year's hiatus in 2007 due to federal budget cuts for TRIO education support programs.
