Christmas at Luther television program wins Emmy award
Luther Colleges nationally recognized Christmas at Luther holiday concert television program has earned an Emmy award for Twin Cities Public Television, the producer of the 2008 program that was aired by PBS Television as a PBS Holiday Special in December.
TPT won a regional Emmy award for Best Special Event Coverage for the program. Christmas at Luther - Night of Glory, Dawn of Peace, which was broadcast nationwide on more than 100 public television stations in December 2008. Luther to re-dedicate Valders Hall of Science Oct. 14
Luther College will celebrate the completion of renovations in Valders Hall of Science with a re-dedication service during the colleges annual Founders Day chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 10:30-10:50 a.m.
The re-dedication service will serve as Octobers chapel-on-the-move and take place in Valders Concourse. Renovation committee and building contractors, students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend the chapel service and celebrate the re-dedication of Valders. Luther College has released the new Nordic Choir album, A New Hosanna. The CD is $20 and available on the Luther website, http://music.luther.edu/recordings.

Sean Kingston to perform at Luther College Nov. 13
Sean Kingston, internationally renowned hip-hop superstar, will perform Friday, Nov. 13 in the Regents Center at Luther College. The opening act for the performance will be the duo New Boyz.

The Irving Berlin musical revue, I Love A Piano, will be performed Friday, Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life at Luther College.
Using 64 of Berlins enduring and popular favorite music compositions, I Love A Piano spans 70 years of American history as seen through Berlins eyes. Presented through dance as well as song, the musical celebrates styles and cultural influences from various eras as it moves through the decades. Luther College Ministries to conduct annual Fall Fling Oct. 24
Luther College student volunteers will help Decorah area residents with fall house cleaning, repair and winterizing chores Saturday, Oct. 24 when Luther College Ministries conducts its annual Fall Fling community assistance day.

Tom Maakestad 80, has a new exhibition titled Landscape of Change on display at Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis, Minn. Maakestads subjects include rolling hills tilled for planting, country roads and colorful marshlands set against large atmospheric skies. In recent years, Maakestad has participated in numerous plein air festivals, giving him a heightened awareness for the affects of weather on our landscape and in turn, on his paintings. Much of the work in this exhibition has been made in this tradition. Working from one location during a condensed period of time, drawings are started and finished relatively quickly.
